Everyone remembers with some wistfulness the great days until 2007 that they got offers for 0 percent credit cards (CC) in the mail all the time. They have missed those wonderful offers for four years now; but apparently, the banks are readying themselves for a tearful reunion - those 0 percent credit cards may be back.Except that they're better now. They have to be -there is a consumer protection act in place now. Today, if you have a 720 credit score, you'll find that there is no shortage of preapproved offers in your mail. Now that consumers over the past year have been paying back their credit card balances in a rather responsible fashion, the credit card companies have been making bolder and bolder. They're still not going to bet on people with poor credit; if you're considered trustworthy though, they can be extra nice generous - they offer you a 0% rate for nearly 2 years.
It's not just the 0 percent CCs either; credit card offers with ultra-low APR's and cheap balance transfer facilities are on the rise too.Now this is not at all how responsible and sensible CC holders were treated even one year ago. Back then, if you had records that showed that you paid your balances on time, you couldn't get a credit card offer it all. As far as the credit card companies are concerned, if you pay all your bills right on time, you're really not someone they can make much income out of - you're a waste of their time. Responsible credit card holders see their interest rates raised to 30% and their credit limits cut - as punishment for paying on time. But the card companies have changed tactics now. They're hoping that if they offer them 0 percent credit cards for almost 2 years, that they will be so grateful that they will hold on to that balance for longer than that.
